Living in Downton Abbey Style: Budget Edition

This week I’m taking an in-depth look into the Drawing Room on the set of PBS’s Downton Abbey. Yesterday, I pulled together an authentic antique décor board reflecting the late 1800’s style of the drawing room in Downton Abbey. While beautiful and luxurious, not everyone can afford a room fit for an Earl or Countess. Today, I’ve found furnishings and decorative accents that would suit your inner Earl or Countess without breaking the bank.

Design trend Focus: Mohair

Who doesn’t love mohair?  Silky and sophisticated as well as cozy and oh-so-warm this design trend is both fashionable and functional.

Emerald Mood Board: The Fresh Outdoors

In my final installment of discussing Pantone’s Color of the Year, Emerald, I’ve made a mood board that reflects a different side of Emerald: the outdoors. The Northern lights are about as true to the shade as anything else in nature (aside from the gemstone itself!), and are the perfect inspiration for a crisp and cozy feel.

Emerald Mood Board: Luxuriously Nostalgic

To celebrate Pantone’s Color of the Year, Emerald, I’ve made a décor board that reflects the Art Deco references I spoke of in my previous post. With velvet, silk, crystal and rich tapestries, this board is all about how Emerald can feel luxurious.
