Kinfolk is an inspirational journal that encourages a natural, sustainable and stylish approach to gathering friends and family around a table. This site has endless inspiration for any home gathering. Without all the fuss, yet loaded with style, anyone can head from the local farmers market to their home to create a gathering to remember. Here are some of my favorite shots from the site.

This style was just begging for a DIY project. It couldn’t be easier to make at home!

All you need is some chain, a bit of wire, hair combs, some neat stones and some common tools. Here’s how to put this great accessory together:

- I like smaller hair combs, so I simply bent mine until it split into two smaller ones.
- Cut three segments of chain. For length, it really depends on how long your hair is. I cut mine into 12”, 15” and 18” pieces.
- Cut one foot of wire, and wrap one end to the hair comb.
- Attach the first stone and pass the wire through one hole of the comb.
- Add the second stone.
- Finish off the wire by wrapping it around a tooth of the comb.
- Then use a jump ring to attach the three chain segments.
- Repeat on the other side and you are done!

No tools? No problem! Grab a chain necklace and slip in two bobby pins! It can’t get any easier!

Being a jewelry designer, chains are part of my everyday life. I’m always trying to find a new link style, or a new use. Chains can be delicate and feminine, or gritty and industrial. Here are some new ways to add chain to your life.

I love this wallpaper so much that it’s making me reconsider the entire color palette of my home. The lucky owner of this home belongs to singer-songwriter Shawn Colvin, and I just may have to mosey on down to Austin, Texas to make a new friend. Mixing modern furniture with bright bohemian textiles and prints = a brilliant way to decorate! What do you think?

After a jam packed week of Moon Canyon magic for the sweetest little Mexican Jewish wedding at the Marvimon Center in LA (photos to come!), Kristen, my better half of Moon Canyon Design Co., took me to one of her favorite spots in town, Cookbook, to grab some delicious nibbles and indulge in some much needed down time. This neighborhood grocer and eatery specializes in the quintessential farm to table experience. Every item in this spot is locally based, carefully curated and impeccably placed. I love Cookbook's sustainable scruples and carefully un-designed look they’ve helped cultivate, not only through their eatery, but through their Magazine and online journal Kinfolk as well.
