Question
Are stencils reusable?
Answer

Yes. Each stencil can be used about six times. For best results, blot excess colorant or sealant on both sides of the stencil with a paper towel.

Question
Are the products safe?

Question
Can colors be overlapped?
Answer

Yes. You can overlap colors wet, or after one color has dried. You can even spray over a sealed design—just let the new colorant dry at least 48 hours and seal again.

Question
Can I make my own designs and stencils?
Answer

Yes! Stencils can be folded, cut or taped together to create a custom design. If you only want to use part of a stencil cutout, you can cover the part you don’t want to use with a paper towel.

Question
Can the colorant be used on other things such as pillows, linens, drapes, etc?
Answer

Vecco is specifically designed for use on carpet only.

Question
Does Vecco™ work on all colors of carpeting?
Answer

Lighter shades of carpet tend to show off designs the best.

Question
Does Vecco™ work on all types of carpeting?
Answer

Vecco is recommended for most residential carpets and rugs with cut fibers. These are usually called plush, velvet, frieze, shag, Saxony or cut pile. However, Vecco is not recommended for polypropylene (olefin) carpets that are made of looped fibers—sometimes called Berber carpet.

Question
How do I maintain my carpet and design?
Answer

Vacuum as you usually would. Once the colorant is sealed, your design is permanent. There’s no need to change your cleaning routine.

Question
How do you apply the sealant?
Answer

Place a clean stencil over your dry design. Apply one coat of sealant. Wait 30 minutes. Apply a second coat of sealant. Be sure you don’t apply the second coat too early or too late as it will compromise the durability of your design.

Question
How easy is the application?
Answer

Super easy! Pick your stencils, spray your colors and seal your design. Be sure to let colorant dry for 48 hours before sealing. Apply two coats of sealant 30 minutes apart. Let your sealed design dry for 48 hours. Wait 10 days before vacuuming.

Question
How long does a Vecco™ design last?
Answer

Years. Once sealed according to the directions, your design is permanently bonded to carpet fibers. Carpet areas that become worn over time, or areas that weren’t sealed according to directions can be touched up with another application of colorant and sealant.

Question
How long does it take to complete a project?
Answer

Plan for your project to take at least four days—2 days for the colorant to dry and 2 days for the sealant to dry. And wait 10 days after the sealant dries before vacuuming.

Question
How much of an area does one can cover?
Answer

One can of sealant covers approximately six stencils.

Question
How much sealant should I use?
Answer

Use one can of sealant for every one can of colorant you use. That’s a 1:1 ratio of sealant to colorant.

Question
How will my carpet feel?
Answer

At first your design may feel stiff, but with vacuuming and regular foot traffic, it will soften over time.

Question
If I apply more colorant will Vecco™ get darker?
Answer

Start with light coats of colorant and add more to reach your desired look. At a certain point, your carpet won’t be able to absorb any more color, and forcing it could distort your images.

Question
Is Vecco™ safe for my vacuum cleaner?
Answer

Yes. Vecco was designed to work with household vacuum cleaners. It won’t harm yours in any way.

Question
What are the ingredients?
Answer

The colorant is made of particles suspended in water. The particles are polyester just like those in your carpet fibers. The sealant is also water-based with mild solvents that help the colorant meld to your carpet fibers to make the design permanent.

Question
What if a can isn’t spraying right?
Answer

Shake the can for 15 seconds after you hear the ball rattle. If the can still isn’t working, try trading its cap with a cap from another can.

Question
What if I accidentally spray clothes, furniture, fabric or other materials?
Answer

No biggie. Once colorant is dry, it becomes a powder and can be easily brushed off with a dry cloth. Wet sealant can be wiped off immediately with a damp cloth. Avoid spraying sealant on finished wood surfaces because it could damage the finish.

Question
What if I make a mistake before sealing?
Answer

Wait 48 hours for the colorant to dry. Then remove the mistake with a vacuum cleaner. For stubborn areas, use your vacuum hose attachment. If it doesn’t vacuum up, your design may still be wet. Wait until it’s completely dry and try again. If it’s dry and you still can’t vacuum it up, rub the area with a damp white cloth to loosen particles. Then vacuum again.

Question
What if I sealed a mistake or a design I don’t like?
Answer

Once the sealant is applied, your only option is to let it dry. However, you can change your design by applying more colorant over and around the existing shape.

Question
What if my design didn’t seal and is wearing off?
Answer

First, check to see if your carpet is looped fiber. Vecco isn’t recommended for looped fiber carpets, so that may be what’s causing your design to wear off. If you have the correct carpet type and your design is wearing off, it may not have been sealed properly. Consider touching up your design with another application of colorant and sealant. Be sure to read sealant instructions carefully. Remember, seal twice, 30 minutes apart.

Question
Will the color change as it dries?
Answer

Colorant will lighten slightly as it dries, but becomes darker after applying sealant. Over time, the design will naturally get lighter.

Question
How long will it take to receive my order?
Answer

Most orders ship within 24 hours of your order date and take approximately one to five business days to arrive depending on your location.

Question
Are there different guidelines for professional use?
Answer

If Vecco is used by professionals for prolonged periods, wear a NIOSH approved respirator and follow the manufacturer's directions for respirator use.
