Q
Can I make my own designs and stencils?
A
Yes! Carpet stencils can be folded, cut or taped together to create a custom design. If you only want to use part of a stencil cutout, you can cover the part you don’t want to use with a paper towel.

Q
How do I maintain my carpet and design?
A
Vacuum as you usually would. Once the carpet colorant is locked, your design is permanent. There’s no need to change your cleaning routine.
Q
How do you apply the colorant lock?
A

Apply a coat of colorant lock and a second coat within an hour to make sure your design is thoroughly covered. Hold can 8” from Colorant Design and spray until milky white to be sure to cover all Colorant well. Remember if you don’t use our Colorant Lock, your beautiful design won’t stay on your rug for long!

Q
How easy is the application?

Super easy! Pick your stencils, spray your colors holding the can 8” above the rug and lock your design. Let carpet colorant dry for 48 hours before locking. Apply two coats of colorant lock within 1 hour. Hold can 8” from Colorant Design and spray thoroughly being sure to cover all Colorant well.

Q
How long does a Vecco™ design last?
A
Years. Once locked according to the directions, your design is permanently bonded to carpet fibers. Carpet areas that become worn over time, or areas that weren’t locked according to directions can be touched up with another application of carpet colorant and colorant lock.
Q
How long does it take to complete a project?
A
As long as you want to keep editing! And 2 days for the carpet colorant to dry and 2 days for the colorant lock to dry.
Q
How much of an area does one can cover?
A
One can of carpet colorant lock covers approximately four stencils.
Q
How much colorant lock should I use?
A
Use one can of colorant lock for every one can of carpet colorant you use. That’s a 1:1 ratio of colorant lock to carpet colorant.
Q
How will my carpet feel?
A
At first your design may feel a little stiff, but with vacuuming and regular foot traffic, it will soften over time.
Q
If I apply more carpet colorant will Vecco™ get darker?
A
Start with light coats of carpet colorant and add more to reach your desired look. At a certain point, your carpet won’t be able to absorb any more color, and forcing it could distort your images.

Q
Is Vecco™ safe for my vacuum cleaner?
A

Yes. Vecco was designed to work with household vacuum cleaners. It won’t harm yours in any way.

Q
What are the ingredients?
A
The carpet colorant is made of particles suspended in water. The particles are polyester just like those in your carpet fibers. The colorant lock is also water-based with mild solvents that help the colorant meld to your carpet fibers to make the design permanent.

Q
What if a can isn’t spraying right?
A
Shake the can for 15 seconds after you hear the ball rattle. If the can still isn’t working, try trading its cap with a cap from another can.
Q
What if I accidentally spray clothes, furniture, fabric or other materials?
A
No biggie. Once carpet colorant is dry, it becomes a powder and can be easily brushed off with a dry cloth. Wet colorant lock can be wiped off immediately with a damp cloth. Avoid spraying colorant lock on finished wood surfaces because it could damage the finish.

Q
What if I have a question or problem?
A
Contact Vecco customer service at 1.877.308.3226 with any questions or concerns 24/7.

Q
What if I want to change my design before locking?
A
Allow carpet colorant to dry. Then vacuum away the colorant – as much or as little as you want. If it doesn’t vacuum up, your design may still be wet. Wait until it’s completely dry and try again. If it’s dry and you still can’t vacuum it up, rub the area with a damp white cloth to loosen particles. Then vacuum again.

Q
What if I lock a mistake or a design I don’t like?
A
Once the carpet colorant lock is applied, your only option is to let it dry. However, you can change your design by applying more colorant over and around the existing design.
Q
Will the color change as it dries?
A
Carpet Colorant will lighten slightly as it dries, but becomes darker after applying colorant lock. Over time, the design will naturally get lighter.

Q
How long will it take to receive my order?
A

Most orders ship within 24 hours of your order date and take approximately one to five business days to arrive depending on your location.

Q
Are there different guidelines for professional use?
A
If Vecco is used by professionals for prolonged periods, wear a NIOSH approved respirator and follow the manufacturer's directions for respirator use.

Q
Need Vecco’s Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)?
A

Q
What if you want to add colorant after a design is locked?
A
You can add more colorant at any time – before or after a design is locked. Always read instructions on cans. To add more colorant over an existing design, simply place Carpet Stencil over design, spray Carpet colorant, let dry, then spray the lock over the fresh colorant. Allow design to dry completely and begin enjoying your fresh design again.
